Something on the Map

I woke up late today. Maybe because of the accumulated exhaustion in the past three days of site visits. I've also been facing problems because it is difficult for me to converse entirely in English. In my classes, we only use English when referring to technical terms. Hence, I'm not so confident in explaining my ideas and information but I'm trying very hard to construct my sentences and remember my vocabulary to be able to interpret what the interviewees said to my group. Nevertheless, I always get a lot of help from them. We learned a lot together and they didn't mind my English at all and always reassured me saying "You can communicate, It's OK".

This morning, I was very confused because I had to both translate the interviews and describe many things for my group. I find the translating and thinking process very complicated. A lot of questions appeared in my head - What is the point of video? What is the best way to get the audiences to understand the views and dreams of the villagers? How should I explain to my friends the content of the interviews and what is the work we have to accomplish before our deadline at 5 PM?

Before watching the 5 videos made by all the groups, I have not understood our project clearly. Why should we walk through the village? Then, when the 5 stories are connected, I got the point of everything we did at Ban Panthom.

This program gives us an great opportunity to talk to the people of Ban Panthom and understand their perspectives. Even though the working time is too short and we become very tired, the results are worth fighting for. I have gained a lot of experiences that I maybe can't find in any other programs.
